 Artisan Renovations & Remodeling is deeply committed to delivering a beautiful end product to our clients. We are a small company whose livelihood depends on the details of our work. In each stage of our remodeling work, from floors to ceilings we have an eye for detail that cannot be beat. While we work in a timely and efficient manner, we are not in a hurry and will not rush a job to completion. Quality will always win the war over quickness. HEALTHY HOMES In the last decade there has been great progress in understanding the importance of indoor air quality. Contrary to popular belief, indoor air can often be more polluted than outdoor air albeit with different pollutants. Artisan Renovations & Remodeling can make suggestions of ways to improve indoors air quality in regards to:

Artisan works with low and zero VOC product including milk paint and other products to meet the customers needs for aesthetic quality as well as health and environmental awareness. Artisan offers a variety of faux-finish techniques so that customers are assured they will receive the look, value and sustainable results they desire. FLOORS We offer complete flooring services from sub-floor construction and repair to floor installation and finishing and refinishing services. Refinishing existing floors is a green service in and of itself solely by the virtue of reusing existing material. The process can be substantially more green with the use of water based finishes. Not only does providing a quality alternative to oil based finishes environmentally sustainable, it creates a substantial improvement to indoor air quality by lowering VOC content and thereby reducing toxic off-gassing. In NC it is not often desirable or cost efficient to install off the grid solar systems, especially in urban areas. A better option is a grid tied, battery free system which allows owners to operate on solar power when it is plentiful and utilize the existing power grid for other times such as at night or on cloudy days. North Carolina is very progressive in its offering of rebates and tax credits for solar installation which can help make solar an affordable option.
 
WEATHERIZATION One of the best ways to green your home is to make air stay in your house after it has been heated or cooled. It is not unusual for our clients in older homes to complain of home heating bills over $300 a month. The best part is that investing in your home's energy efficiency is a permanent investment which means a way to lower your energy bills and keep them low. The possibilities for making a home more energy efficient are numerous but absolute, must-have priorities should be: 1. Insulating attic (consider increasing even if there is existing insulation) 2. Installing energy efficient windows and doors 3. Sealing air leaks (caulk and weather-stripping) For cooling a home more efficiently in the summer consider installing an attic fan to decrease the need for constant air conditioning. SOLAR
